AllegroSurf Version 4.4.0.0

AllegroSurf 4.4.0.0 was released April 22, 2002.

  • Corrected a bug where the MRU list was not saved between sessions.
  • Corrected a bug where if a user bypasses a banned site, it was possible for ads and other information to be passed through if the information was in the first packet.
  • Corrected a bug where very large files could become truncated when using FTP or the file download might not complete.
  • Added the ability to assume users based on a range of IP addresses instead of just by a single IP address or a computer name. This field is especially useful when a user, or a classification of a user can use a range of IP addresses or different computers.
  • Added the setting of the SOCKS proxy server in IE and Netscape for Java applets. If Java is used on ports other than the default HTTP port, these browsers will use the SOCKS4 proxy server to make connections.
  • Added more checks to help prevent UDP GPF's
  • Added "Sports" banning category. Sites can now be based on sports content.
  • Improved registration IDs so that name and email address are stored in the ID itself. It is no longer required to have separate fields for the IDs.
  • Changed HTTP proxy server to ignore non "GET", "POST" and "CONNECT" requests. This is due to the fact that Windows XP sometimes tries to use the proxy server to perform file I/O requests even when MS Client Networking is NOT bound to TCP/IP.
  • Added SSL encryption to TCP Mapping proxy servers and TCP Range Mapping proxy servers. Use these types of proxy servers to encrypt and protect data between two AllegroSurf SSL TCP Mapping proxy servers.

AllegroSurf Version 4.3.0.0

AllegroSurf 4.3.0.0 was released September 17, 2001.

  • Corrected potential memory use bug when running as a service. Had to do with putting the icon on the system tray.
  • Corrected bug where the proxy servers could potentially truncate files.
  • Corrected problem where pages that are moved (either temporary or permanently) are cached.
  • Corrected problem where banning was not being done for particular groups/users for both banning sites by strings and for approved sites.
  • Added TCP Port Mapping Proxy server
  • Added UDP Port Mapping Proxy server
  • Improved internal file storage and backup so loss of stored data is unlikely in the event of a computer crash during file writes.
  • Improved stability

AllegroSurf Version 4.2.0.2
