AllegroSurf Version 6.0.0.1
AllegroSurf 6.0.0.1 was released January 1, 2004.
Changes:- Updated OpenSSL libraries to version 0.9.6l.
- Corrected a bug where while running under Windows NT 4.0, AllegroSurf Voyager would not work.
- Corrected a bug under Windows 9x/Me where AllegroSurf would not accept connections.
- Corrected a bug where the FTP proxy would not work when using the OPEN or SITE commands.
AllegroSurf Version 6.0.0.0
AllegroSurf 6.0.0.0 was released December 1, 2003.
Changes:- Added Client Bytes In/Out to the AllegroSurf Voyager Request list.
- Added support for Passive (PASV) FTP connections through the WWW proxy server.
- Added the ability to move a banned site to the Approved Exception list.
- Added the ability to enable or disable user login for individual proxy servers, or use a global setting (default).
- Added information on the AllegroSurf Status bar to show the number of items and selected items in the right hand pane. This is especially useful when AllegroSurf is working with many users.
- Changed the filter bypass time from 5 minutes (fixed) to the automatic logoff time configured under "Users and Groups".
- Changed the telnet proxy server to accept another port number by specifying the server followed by a space OR a colon then the port number.
- Added Transfer Totals for all servers combined in the performance monitor.
- Added Current and Maximum Concurrent users count to the performance monitor.
- Added running time, or up time, in the performance monitor. This shows the number of days, hours, minutes, and seconds AllegroSurf has been running.
- Change Performance Monitor value displays to show values in bold text.
- Added "Created" and "Last Accessed" times to Banned, Approved, Don't Prefetch, and Don't Cache site lists. For customers upgrading from older versions this requires them to resize their columns in AllegroSurf Voyager.
- Updated OpenSSL libraries to version 0.9.6k.
- Improved performance when accepting client connections.
- Improved stability.
- Added "AllegroSurf System Error.log" when critical errors occur in AllegroSurf. This log is stored in the "\Data\Logs" directory with server logs and can be accessed through a web browser at "http://log.AllegroSurf.com/AllegroSurf System Error".
- Added the ability to define exceptions to the Ad Database lists, where items in quotes and parenthesis are considered exceptions to the list.
- When logging by IP address, if the AllegroSurf DHCP server assigned the IP address, and has the computer name, the computer name is used to log the information.
- When logging by IP address, if the client computer uses a "private" IP address reverse DNS is used to try to determine the computer name.
- Changed "Current Users" list sorting to sort numerically on the IP address instead of sorting by the IP address as text.
- If a second copy of the AllegroSurf Engine is started, AllegroSurf Voyager is started instead.
- Corrected some UDP proxy server errors where the number of bytes sent to the client wasn't being logged.
- Corrected a possible buffer overrun error with the SOCKS proxy server.
- Corrected a bug where AllegroSurf would only allow filtering bypassing for 5 minutes, not 5 minutes of no activity.
- Corrected a bug where Approved Sites would not allow sub links, due to an error when processing the referrer field of HTTP.
- Corrected a problem where after disabling logs or audits, these files could not be deleted because they were still in use by AllegroSurf.
- Corrected a potential GPF bug when receiving data.
- Corrected a potential deadlock condition which could occur during shutdown.
- Corrected a problem where large file downloads could cause the WWW Proxy server to consume large amounts of RAM due to the dual request caching feature of AllegroSurf. This feature has been removed because it's not practical.
- Corrected AllegroSurf Voyager to use the "Currency" "Regional Settings" instead of the "Numbers" setting for user accounting totals.
- Corrected a problem where Prefetch would pause to give way for "normal" traffic, even when not required to do so.
- Corrected a problem where certain pop-ups were not being filtered from web sites.
- Corrected a bug where when using FtpTree 10.0.0.0 or greater FTP transfers through web browsers could fail, the transfer may not actually start.
- Corrected a GPF bug where starting two copies of AllegroSurf Engine would cause a GPF in the second instance.
- Corrected a problem where images could be dropped when AllegroSurf is running on non-server based machines. The problem can still occur, however, in incredibly fast LANs or when AllegroSurf is running on slower computers. The solution is to run Windows Server or on a faster computer.
- Corrected a bug where applying banned sites to specific users only would fail.
